Las Cruces has several medical facilities to serve its resident's healthcare needs. Memorial Medical Center (MMC) is growing to just under 400 beds for acute care. Memorial Medical Center also offers emergency and urgent care, comprehensive cancer care (Ikard Cancer Treatment Center), imaging services, maternal/infant care, lab services, Memorial Heart Center for Heart and Vascular Care, outpatient surgery, Women's Health and Wellness, pediatrics, a neonatal care center, behavioral services, and various rehabilitation services among others. Additional services are offered at its new freestanding annex, Memorial HealthPlex, an outpatient surgery center with diagnostic imaging, lab services, and endoscopy.

In 2002 Mountain View Regional Medical Center opened. It boasts a state of the art, full service emergency room and all private inpatient rooms, innovative concierge for inpatient, as well as a state-of-the-art full-service emergency room. Among other key services at Mountain View are the Comprehensive Women's Center, cardiology services, surgery services, diagnostic imaging, inpatient rehabilitation, a pain management center, and an ADA certified diabetes program.

Adult and child psychiatric and chemical dependence care can be obtained at the Mesilla Valley Hospital, with 86 beds or in Santa Teresa at Alliance Hospital.

We are fortunate to have an abundance of healthcare professionals as well as modern state of the art facilities.

The number of physicians in the area is around 400 specializing in over thirty different areas including a large number of Family Practitioners and Pediatricians. We have nearly 50 dentists who offer general care and specialty services, and there are many ophthalmology and optometry practitioners for complete eye care services.

Las Cruces is also home to a new Surgical Center providing gastrointestinal, orthopedic, and pediatric surgery as well as cataract removal in a non-hospital setting.

In addition, the area's cancer patients are treated at the Southern New Mexico Cancer Center. The 17,000 square foot facility offers medical oncology technology and an on-site pharmacy to provide diagnostic radiology, stem cell transplants,
radiology therapies and patient support services. The chemotherapy room has 17 chairs and two private rooms. Other new technology includes a large multi-leaf collimator, a specialized, computer-controlled device that enables a clinician to sculpt radiation beams to conform to the shape of a tumor while sparing the surrounding tissue.

The number of high-quality assisted living facilities has increased recently and offer various levels of care including an Alzheimer's unit. Reliable home health caregivers are also plentiful.

A number of other services are also accessible just 40 miles south of Las Cruces in El Paso, TX.
